Things to know about Sacred Heart Academy

SHA was founded in 1877, and has graduated more than 300 National Merit Finalists, Semi-Finalists and Commended Students.

In 1998, Sacred Heart Academy was named a Blue Ribbon National School of Excellence by the U.S. Department of Education.

Eighty-five percent of our teachers have Masters degrees or beyond.

SHA is the only Catholic high school in the state of Kentucky to be accepted into the International Baccalaureate program, offering students specialized high school diplomas, college credit and/or advanced placement at most universities. For more information, contact ibsha@sacredheartacad.com.

Our sports program offers a history with over 60 state championships, as well as a 750-capacity gym; an eight-lane, 400-meter regulation track; regulation field hockey, softball and soccer fields; and a five-court tennis complex.

Our students enrich their lives through a four-year retreat program; a wealth of clubs, organizations and athletic teams; and the performing arts in cooperative programs on campus with the Ursuline School for the Performing Arts.

The Academy offers the latest equipment and technology training with more than 200 computer workstations, Internet access, a school Web site
(www.sacredheartacad.com), a four-year technology training program and a regionally-acclaimed multi-media TV, and video studio.

Shadow Days offer 7th and 8th-grade girls a special way to experience life at Sacred Heart by "shadowing" one of our students for a day. To schedule a visit, call 502-896-3926.

SHA offers all students a college-preparatory program, and students may enroll in Advanced Placement courses, as well as transferable college credit courses available through a cooperative agreement with Bellarmine University.

The student to faculty ratio at SHA is a low 15 to 1.

Students earn more than 15,000 service hours annually through a wide range of interesting community projects -- from coaching wheel-chair basketball to helping refugees new to Louisville.

A variety of academic and minority scholarships, work/study programs, tuition assistance and need-based financial aid are available at SHA. For more information about tuition assistance, call 502-897-6097.
