Over 175 dancers from Ursuline School for the Performing Arts will dance in the story ballet Alice in Wonderland
LOUISVILLE, KY (April 2008) - In celebration of its dance department’s 10th anniversary, students from the Ursuline School for the Performing Arts will perform the story ballet Alice in Wonderland May 9 and 10 at 7 p.m. and May 11 at 2 p.m. Dancers age 2 to 17 will bring to life all the favorite characters from the classic Lewis Carroll story, including Alice, the Mad Hatter and the White Rabbit. Over 175 students will dance in the production.
All performances will be held in the Ursula Auditorium, bldg. #5 on the Ursuline Campus at 3105 Lexington Rd. Tickets are $5 for students and seniors and $8 for adults. For reservations, call USPA at 897-1816.
Alice’s magical adventures in Wonderland begin after she falls down a rabbit hole. The story follows Alice on a whirl-wind trip that includes encounters with the Caterpillar, The Cheshire Cat, Tweedle Dum and Tweedle Dee and the March Hare. Her adventure culminates at the Queen of Heart’s castle. This story ballet will delight audience members of all ages.
The production is choreographed by Cynthia Heath, Julie McWilliams, Jessica Stansbury and Janet Witzleben.

Ursuline School for the Performing Arts (USPA), a member of Ursuline Campus Schools, sponsored by the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville, is fully-accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and provides opportunities for students of all ages who wish to pursue careers in the performing and visual arts or who simply want to enrich their lives through music, dance, drama or the visual arts. USPA programs are open to the public, complement those offered by other schools on campus, and encourage students to explore meanings, associations and interpretations of their encounters with the arts. In addition, arts integration classes taught by USPA faculty during the school day are an important component of the educational offerings of the other four Ursuline Campus schools. In July 2007, the distinguished Louisville Youth Choir became artists in residence at USPA. www.ucschools.com/uspa
