Sacred Heart Academy graduates receive special awards

LOUISVILLE, KY (May 2008) - Dr. Beverly McAuliffe, principal of Sacred Heart Academy, has announced that the following members of the Class of 2008 have been presented with special awards.

Jenna Crowdus was named Miss Sacred Heart. This prestigious award recognizes a senior who represents Sacred Heart’s core values of leadership, service, reverence and community. Miss Sacred Heart, who is nominated by faculty and staff, demonstrates in words and actions a genuine love for her school, her fellow students, the faculty and the staff.

Rosemary Daly received the St. Angela Award for her daily and year-long commitment to the Ursuline core values of community, leadership, reverence and service. The award is given by the Ursuline Campus Schools Office of Mission Effectiveness and is named after St. Angela Merici, who founded the Company of St. Ursula.

Other special awards presented to the Class of 2008 included: The 110 Percent Effort Award – Anna Clements; Bunny Daugherty Unsung Hero Award – Sarah Zehnder; Parents’ Association Award – Tess Gates; Athlete of the Year Award – Kathryn Denbow and Hannah English; and SHA Alumnae Association Outstanding Senior Award – Lauren Lee and Emily Wetterer.

Members of the SHA Class of 2008 earned over 347 academic and athletic scholarship offers, in excess of $13.8 million, and have been accepted to over 152 colleges and universities across the United States and Canada. The graduates provided over 23,000 hours of service to the Louisville community in four years at Sacred Heart. Of the 187 graduates, 26 have mothers, 15 have grandmothers and 3 have great-grandmothers who are alumnae of SHA.
