LOUISVILLE, KY (April 2008) - Sacred Heart Model School will lose a beloved faculty member in May when Sally Baker Rothenburger retires after 39 years of teaching.
A reception will be held in Rothenburger’s honor on Sunday, May 18 from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Sacred Heart Academy gym, bldg. 21, 3175 Lexington Rd. An official presentation will be made at 4 p.m. Former students and faculty/staff and classmates of Rothenburger’s from Sacred Heart Model School and Sacred Heart Academy are invited to attend. Rothenburger is a 1953 graduate of Sacred Heart Model School and a 1958 graduate of Sacred Heart Academy. While a teacher at Sacred Heart Model School, Rothenburger has taught religion, language arts and introduced dance and movement into the school’s curriculum. She started her own dance studio, the Ballet Arts Studio, at the Clifton Center in 1969. Rothenburger has provided leadership in liturgical dance at her home parish of Epiphany.
She has four children, all of whom attended SHMS. Her three daughters graduated from SHA.
