Ursuline School for the Performing Arts presents Celebrating 40 Years of Creating Artists

LOUISVILLE, KY (April 2008) - Ursuline School for the Performing Arts will host the faculty recital and art exhibition, Celebrating 40 years of Creating Artists, on Sunday, April 27 at 4 p.m. in Angela Hall, bldg. 17 on the Ursuline Campus at 3105 Lexington Rd. The faculty recital and art exhibition are in celebration of the school’s 40th anniversary.

Artists/educators from the dance, drama, music and visual art departments will be featured. Performers include:

• Violinist Anna Dolan and guest artist, Charlie Blanton (double bass), playing the jazz duo, “A Hot Time on Locust Street” written by Doug Elmore, an esteemed local high school teacher in southern Indiana and well known jazz bass player in the Kentuckiana area.
  
• Julie Reese playing “Haydn Trumpet Concerto, 2nd Movement” on the trumpet.
  
• Guitarist Don Leffler, performing Spanish pieces “Malaguena,” “La Paloma” and “Spanish Fandango.”
  
• Vocalist Grace Kim singing “Psalm 23,” a Korean sacred art song by Shin-duck Choi, and “People Need the Lord.”
  
• Dr. Connie Golden performing “Toccata” from Organ Symphony No. 5 on the organ.
  
• Rozanna Thompson, Jill Schurman and Don Leffler performing “LuLu Lullaby” on the harp and guitar.
  
• Guest artist Judith Youngblood singing “Fêtes Galantes” and “Infidelité” by Reynaldo Hahn, accompanied by Dr. Philip Brisson, director of music for the Cathedral of the Assumption.
  
• Drama faculty members Abby Ruiz Brown, Robert Greene and Kristi Papailler performing a scene from the 2000 Human Festival play, “Phone Scenes.”
  
• Other performances will include piano, singing and dance.
  

The art exhibit will feature the works of Suzanne Dougherty, Mary Newton, Kathleen Browning and Gerry Kean.
