LOUISVILLE, KY (April 2008) - The Sacred Heart Academy newspaper, The Rune, was named the best school newspaper in the AA/AAA division by the Western Kentucky University School of Journalism & Broadcasting and the WKU chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists. More than 25 high schools competed in the annual competition.
Sacred Heart Academy also received individual Mark of Excellence awards in the AA/AAA division (a student body of 500-1,000) for the following: Best Two-page Spread Designer - Mary Ahrens, first place; Best News Writer - Cassidy Herrington, second place; Best One-Page Spread Designer - Alanah Feeney, second place; Best Feature Writer - Belinda Casanova, third place; Best Front Page Layout Designer - Tess Gates, third place.
SHA English teacher Danielle Popp is The Rune teacher/faculty advisor. Technology instructor Leah Walz is the assistant.
