Sacred Heart Model School students excel in regional Governor’s Cup & KUNA

LOUISVILLE, KY (March 2008) - Dr. Mary Beth Bowling, principal of Sacred Heart Model School has announced the following school academic team accomplishments:

The Level 7 and 8 Quick Recall Team finished second in the regional Governor’s Cup, qualifying the team for state competition. Individually, Ava Chen qualified in both science and social studies and Kathy Deloso and Maggie Heine qualified in arts and humanities. Overall, the team finished second in region 8.

The Level 7 and 8 Kentucky United Nations Assembly (KUNA) delegation was awarded the top honor of Outstanding KUNA Delegation at the annual conference in February. The Level 7 student group represented the countries of Mozambique and Malawi and the Level 8 student group represented the country of Sri Lanka. Outstanding delegation encompasses many qualities, including staying in character, upholding the values of the YMCA sponsored event, the depth of the proposals submitted and overall behavior and respect. Level 8 students Ryan Perry and Ben Neikirk were honored as outstanding delegation speakers for the event.
