Ursuline School for the Performing Arts Offers New Classes for Preschoolers
LOUISVILLE, KY (December 2006) -
The Ursuline School for the Performing Arts (USPA), a member of Ursuline Campus Schools, will offer two new classes for preschool children beginning in January 2007. * * * Ursuline School for the Performing Arts (USPA), a member of Ursuline Campus Schools, sponsored by the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville, is fully-accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and provides opportunities for students of all ages who either wish to pursue careers in the performing arts or who simply want to enrich their lives through music, dance, drama, or the visual arts. USPA programs are open to the public, complement those offered by other schools on campus, and encourage students to explore meanings, associations and interpretations of their encounters with the arts. In addition, arts integration classes taught by USPA faculty during the school day are an important component of the educational offerings of the other four Ursuline Campus schools. USPA is housed in Angela Hall, with modern music and dance studios, rehearsal areas, and performance spaces. Find the USPA online at http://www.ucschools.com/uspa.
Professional artist and USPA faculty member Suzanne Dougherty will teach a 10-week visual art workshop beginning the week of January 8 from 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. The class is being offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The cost for 10 lessons is $100.
Also new to USPA is Fairy Tale Theatre. USPA faculty member Julia Krebs will teach a highly interactive, beginning drama class for 3- to 5-year-olds from 2 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, beginning January 3. The semester-long class will involve story-telling and opportunities to act out beloved fairy tales. Tuition for the 16-week class is $165.
Classes will be held on the Ursuline Campus in Angela Hall, bldg. 17, 3105 Lexington Rd. For more information or to pre-register, call the Ursuline School for the Performing Arts at 897-1816 or e-mail Lynn Slaughter, USPA’s executive director, at lslaughter@ucschools.com.
