SHA hosts NAUES Student Leadership Conference

LOUISVILLE, KY (June 2006) - Sacred Heart Academy will host the North American Ursuline Education Services (NAUES) Student Leadership Conference, June 24-28 on the Ursuline Campus and at Mt. St. Francis Retreat and Conference Center in Mt. St. Francis, Ind. The theme of the conference, “You Will See Marvels,” is based on the Counsels of St. Angela Merici, who founded the Company of St. Ursula in 1535. Forty students and 16 adults from as far away as California and Massachusetts will be the leadership conference.

The goals of the conference are to: network and strengthen bonds among student leaders; share and appreciate connections through history, spirit, and St. Angela’s heritage; and provide leadership skills for practical use in school. During the conference the students will attend Mass at St. Agnes Parish, participate in a Low-ropes Leadership course, explore the legacy of St. Angela, and participate in self-discovery activities.

On June 27, the group will spend the day on Ursuline Campus and at Sacred Heart Academy. Tori Murdin-McClure, the Louisville woman who became the first American to row across the Atlantic Ocean, will deliver the keynote address, “To Dare Mighty Things.” Following a walking tour of the Ursuline Campus, conference attendees will enjoy an ice cream social with the Ursuline Sisters.
