Sacred Heart Academy faculty member selected as Fulbright-Hays scholar

LOUISVILLE, KY (April 2007) - Sacred Heart Academy faculty member Jennifer Mayer has been selected as a Fulbright-Hays Scholar and will participate in a summer semester of learning in Brazil.

Mayer, a Spanish teacher, will be introduced to the people and culture of Brazil and will also learn about the history, education system and language of the country. Mayer is just one of 16 teachers from across the United States selected to participate in this month-long, all-expense-paid semester abroad.

The Fulbright-Hays Program is administered by the U.S. Department of Education. It was enacted in 1961 to ensure U.S. scholars would receive the critical overseas educational experiences necessary for developing high levels of expertise in foreign language and countries.
