Sacred Heart Academy, Assumption and Trinity unite for benefit choral concert

LOUISVILLE, KY (April 2007) - The Sacred Heart Academy Madrigal Choir and Assumption High School and Trinity High School Advanced choirs will combine their talents for a concert on Thursday, April 26 at 7 p.m. at the Church of the Ascension, 4600 Lynnbrook Dr. Donations will be accepted at the door to benefit Catholic Charities.

The combined 62-member choir will sing three pieces. Each school choir individually will also sing for 15 minutes. The choir will be conducted by choral directors Jill Schurman (Sacred Heart Academy), Jackie Metry (Assumption) and Ken Bechtloff (Trinity). “At the Kentucky Music Educators Association in-service, we noticed that we were doing similar selections and thought combining the girls and boys schools would allow the students to perform four part vocal literature,” Schurman said. “This is the first of what we hope will become an annual event involving other Catholic high school choral programs.”

For more information, contact Jill Schurman, SHA choir director, at 897-6097 or jcschurman@sacredheartacad.com.
