Sacred Heart Academy senior receives President’s Volunteer Service Award

LOUISVILLE, KY (March 2007) - Sacred Heart Academy senior Kaitlyn Jones has been honored for her exemplary volunteer service with a President’s Volunteer Service Award.

The award, which recognizes Americans of all ages who have volunteered significant amounts of their time to serve their communities and their country, was presented by The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program on behalf of the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation.

Kaitlyn earned her award as a certified trainer of puppies for the nonprofit organization Paws with Purpose, which provides skilled companion dogs for the disabled. Kaitlyn’s commitment requires close to 18 months with each dog she trains. For the past two years, Kaitlyn’s puppies in-training have even accompanied her to school.

“The recipients of these awards vividly demonstrate that young people across America are making remarkable contributions to the health and vitality of their communities,” said Art Ryan, chairman and CEO of Prudential Financial, in a statement. “They truly deserve all of the praise and encouragement we can give them.”

Sponsored by Prudential Financial in partnership with the National Association of Secondary School Principals, The Prudential Spirit of Community Awards program recognizes young people across America for outstanding community service activities.
