Sacred Heart Model School and Ursuline School for the Performing Arts present “Tom ‘n Huck”
LOUISVILLE, KY (January 2007) -
The irrepressible Tom Sawyer, his best buddy Huck Finn and many other beloved characters created by Mark Twain come to life in “Tom ‘n Huck,” an all-American adventure presented by the Level 8 students at Sacred Heart Model School on February 8 and 9 at 7 p.m. All shows will be in Ursula Auditorium (Bldg. #5) on the Ursuline Campus at 3105 Lexington Rd. * * *
Sacred Heart Model School (SHMS), a member of Ursuline Campus Schools, sponsored by the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville, is a K-8 co-ed school. SHMS, founded in 1924, promotes excellence in education by focusing on the personal success of each child. Model School students average in the 90% or greater on the Terra Nova, a nationally normed standardized test given yearly to students in Levels 1-7. SHMS offers a well-rounded education including foreign language as part of its core curriculum, performing arts classes within the school day, an array of extra curricular offerings including chess, quick recall, and choir, as well as a comprehensive athletic program. In 2001, SHMS was named a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence.
After being accused of stealing Becky Thatcher’s gold necklace, Tom and Huck decide to take off for the swamp. Tom and Huck meet up with Mary Meechum, thought to be a witch, and that’s when the real trouble—and fun—begins!
All tickets are $5. Performances are open to the public, and reservations may be made by calling the Ursuline School for the Performing Arts (USPA) at 897-1816.

Ursuline School for the Performing Arts (USPA), a member of Ursuline Campus Schools, sponsored by the Ursuline Sisters of Louisville, is fully-accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, and provides opportunities for students of all ages who either wish to pursue careers in the performing arts or who simply want to enrich their lives through music, dance, drama, or the visual arts. USPA programs are open to the public, complement those offered by other schools on campus, and encourage students to explore meanings, associations and interpretations of their encounters with the arts. In addition, arts integration classes taught by USPA faculty during the school day are an important component of the educational offerings of the other four Ursuline Campus schools. USPA is housed in Angela Hall, with modern music and dance studios, rehearsal areas, and performance spaces.
